Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Learning Systems are the future topics of digitisation. In the coming years, they will increasingly drive the economy forward and at the same time change many areas of society.
With learning systems, the prerequisite conditions are created for intelligent robots, self-driving vehicles and also for networked industrial production. This is intended to pursue the goal of lightening the fields of life and work, thus also improving the quality of life, as well as sustainably securing economic growth.
“The time has come for Germany to do more on the topic of Artificial Intelligence”, said Federal Research Minister Johanna Wanka (BMBF).
With these words began the future-oriented project “Learning Systems” from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), which will be coordinated through a steering committee. In October last year, experts from business, science and society took up their work within seven working groups.
blackbee’s founder and CTO, Dr. Hanna Köpcke, was appointed by the BMBF a member of the steering committee of the platform “Learning Systems”. She is primarily an expert in object matching, machine learning and data mining. She will now be discussing relevant and current questions on the topic with other experts. Within thematically specialised working groups, technological, economic and civic questions will be discussed in relation to the development and introduction of learning systems. In the end, these results will be used to derive scenarios, recommendations or guidelines.
The best-known representatives within the steering group include Prof. Dr. Johanna Wanka (BMBF), Prof. Dr. Dieter Spath (President of acatech), Prof. Dr. Reimund Neugebauer (President of the Fraunhofer Society), Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Wahlster (Chairman of the Management Board at DFKI) and Ralf Klinkenberg (Co-FounderRapidminer GmbH).
